Implemented and successfully completed Project of European Regional Development Fund “1.1.1.2. “Post-doctoral research aid” “One Health” multidisciplinary approaches for epidemiology and prevention of selected parasitic zoonosis (OMEPPAZ), (1.1.1.2/VIAA/1/16/204)” (implemented by senior researcher Dr. biol. Gunita Deksne).

3. The results of the research have been demonstrated to the general public both within the framework of the events “Scientists’ Night” (2018 and 2019) and the exhibition “RigaFood 2020”.
4. A Centre of Excellence in the field of food parasitic pathogens has been established. In accordance with BIOR’s areas of specialization and leading motive, BIOR has established an integrated Centre of Excellence in Food Parasitic Pathogens (hereinafter – Centre of Excellence) as a virtual unit to provide a high-quality and up-to-date knowledge base and promote interdisciplinary research in food parasitic pathogens “One world, one health” concept. The Centre of Excellence has developed an operational strategy that describes the Centre of Excellence: goals and objectives, impact on the Latvian economy, epidemiological surveillance of food parasitic pathogens in Latvia, technical and staffing, involvement of partners, ethical aspects, synergies and sustainable development, and publicity.

The evaluation of international experts has established that 95% of the planned results have been achieved within the project.
Cooperation authority is State Education Development Agency. The duration of the project is 36 months. The total cost of the project is EUR 133 806, 85% of which is financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
