The fish farm started in 1940. “Pelči is the only fish farm in the Kurzeme region where fish are bred all year round. The main task is to replenish the salmonid stocks of the Venta basin.
Each year, the farm raises and releases around 200 000 salmon and sea trout smolts and fry into the Venta basin. In addition, juvenile zander, crayfish, carp and rainbow trout, pike and lamprey larvae are reared.
