The main objective of the fish farms “Kārļi” and “Brasla” is to maintain the salmon population in the Gauja basin. Each farm releases around 200 000 salmon smolts and fry every year. The farms also rear juvenile brown trout, brook trout, whitefish, grayling and rainbow trout.
