The Bacteriology Group carries out bacteriological testing of clinically ill and dead animals, birds, fish and bees, as well as drug resistance testing of isolated bacterial microflora. The testing also includes the determination of microbiological parameters of sanitary and environmental samples and of the quality of feed. An important part of the Group’s work is the testing carried out under the National Surveillance Plan for Infectious Diseases in Animals and the monitoring of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Mycological investigations – detection of mycoses and dermatomycoses in animals – are another of the Group’s activities. The work uses classical methods of investigation as well as standards recognised in Europe and worldwide.
