Approved Horizon 2020 ERA-NET Cofund M-era.Net 3 project “2D materials for electrochemical PFAS removal from water” (2D4PFAS)

On May 28, 2024, the Scientific Institute of Food Safety, Animal Health and Environment BIOR signed a consortium agreement for the implementation of the Horizon 2020 ERA-NET Cofund M-era.Net 3 project “2D materials for electrochemical PFAS removal from water” (2D4PFAS). On August 23, 2024, a contract was signed with the Latvian Council of Science for granting support for the project implementation.

Work to be performed in the project:

  1. Development of a high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) method for the identification and determination of unknown fluorinated and perfluorinated compounds (PFAS);
  2. Development of an analytical method for the determination of short-chain PFAS by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS);
  3. Application of liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) and high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) for the determination of PFAS in drinking water, surface water and wastewater samples;
  4. Evaluation of the materials developed in the project with regard to their potential for reducing the PFAS content in water samples and their cycle performance;
  5. Participation in project partner meetings;
  6. Communication of the results obtained as directed by the project lead partner.

The project has received 100% public funding of EUR 100 000.

Project starts on 1st April 2024 and end on 31th March 2027.
