On January 1, 2019, the BIOR institute, in cooperation with the National Agency for Education Development (SEDA), launched a research application No. 1.1.1.2/VIAA/2/18/247 ” Ultra-high-resolution mass spectrometry as an effective tool for the analysis of food contamination: development of new analytical methods and application to real samples”. The project is implemented by leading researcher Dzintars Zacs.

During the reference period from 01.07.2019 to 30.09.2019 a review of scientific literature and information systematization about potentially contaminated food products with persistent organic pollutants was performed.

Selection of food products and analysis of these samples was carried out using the elaborated analytical methods.

Information on the elaborated method for determination of chlorinated paraffins in food products using high resolution mass spectrometry was summarized and achieved results were presented in the frame of the annual international scientific symposium “39th International Symposium on Halogenated Persistent Organic Pollutants “Dioxin 2019”” (Kyoto, Japan)
