Main activities during the 3rd period (01.07.2019-30.09.2019):

• Article “Agricultural biomass /waste as adsorbents for toxic metal decontamination of aqueous solutions” submitted for publication in the Journal of Molecular Liquids (Q1). Article is approved for publication.
• Research visit to Lappeenranta University of Technology (within the framework of international mobility). Biosorbent analyzes (FTIR (Vertex 70, Bruker) and BET (Micrometrics TriStar II Plus)) were performed during the visit. A visit to the Mikkeli wastewater treatment plant took place.
• Participation in European Science Night 2019. During the event, the suitability of different agricultural residues for the development of solid sorbents and their application in wastewater treatment was demonstrated. Presentation of a poster presentation were given.
• New analytical methods were acquired and samples of potato juice samples were analyzed – nitrite and nitrate concentration, COD, suspended solids, ash content (organic matter content).

The cooperating institution – The State Education Development Agency (SEDA). The duration of the project – 36 months. Total costs – 133 805.88 EUR, of which 85% (113 734.98 EUR) is financed by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
