On January 1, 2019, the BIOR institute, in cooperation with the National Agency for Education Development (SEDA), launched a research application No. 1.1.1.2/VIAA/2/18/247 ” Ultra-high-resolution mass spectrometry as an effective tool for the analysis of food contamination: development of new analytical methods and application to real samples”. The project is implemented by leading researcher Dzintars Zacs.
During the reference period from 01.04.2020 to 30.06.2020, an analytical methods were developed for the analysis of poorly investigated persistent organic contaminants (e.g. polychlorinated naphtalenes) in foodstuffs using high-resolution mass spectrometry.
Food analyses were conducted using previously developed analytical methods and occurrence data for different compound classes were generated.
Previously prepared scientific manuscript on the occurrence, dietary intake and risk assessment was submitted for publication.
Cooperation institution SEDA. Project duration is 36 months. The total cost of the project is EUR 133 805.88, of which 85% (EUR 113 734.98) is the European Regional Development Fund.
