This week, the Latvian Institute of Food Safety, Animal Health and Environment “BIOR” welcomed colleagues from the Estonian National Centre for Laboratory Research and Risk Assessment (LABRIS) for a professional exchange visit.
During the visit, the Estonian team explored BIOR’s customer service practices, with particular interest in the development, implementation, and functionality of the client portal e.bior.lv. Discussions focused on how to improve accessibility and communication with clients through digital tools.
Experts from both countries also shared insights and latest trends in food control and testing methodologies. Colleagues from the chemistry laboratories agreed that the challenges faced by both countries are similar, while microbiology specialists exchanged experiences on animal health and disease surveillance.
This kind of collaboration between the Baltic States has been ongoing for over 20 years and plays a crucial role in knowledge sharing, innovation, and strengthening food safety systems across the region.
