The Elemental Analysis Group carries out physico-chemical and chemical investigations on water and wastewater samples, as well as the determination of chemical elements in food, feed and environmental samples. The testing of water and wastewater samples uses standard laboratory equipment as well as the Thermo Scientific Gallery Discrete Analyzer for muslin technology. The Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer ICP-MS Agilent 7700x is used for the determination of elements in food and feed. The Division also has a gamma spectrometer, BSI GS-02-97, which can detect various radionuclides in foodstuffs and animal feed. The Perkin Elmer Quantulus 1220 liquid scintillation counter also detects Sr-90.
