Entrepreneurs are allowed to use without coordination with the institutions in charge the claims that are authorized for use and can be found in the register of the European Commission.

In case an entrepreneur would like to use a new claim that has not been registered until that moment, there must be a permission received from the European Commission. After confirmation of the claim, it is included in the register.

When preparing an application, it is recommended that the producer uses the guidelines developed by the European Commission and EFSA “General scientific guidance for stakeholders on health claim applications” and the guidance for scientific justification developed by EFSA.
