The library of BIOR Fish Resource Research Department

The library of the Fish Resource Research Department is the only specialised library in Latvia the collection of which is created by gathering and systemizing publications and documents in the areas of marine and water environmental sciences, fisheries and aquaculture. The fond of the library contains more than 20 thousand published works and original copies (books, articles, periodicals). A considerable part of the fond consists of the publications of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) and the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) as well as publications of the institutes of fisheries and marine science of the Baltic States.

Since the end of 1990, the fond of the library has been supplemented with new scientific monographies with the support of the Fish Fund of Latvia.

Since 2002, the library of the department is the member of the European Association of Aquatic Sciences Libraries and Information Centres (EURASLIC) and the International Association of Aquatic and Marine Science Libraries and Information Centres (IAMSLIC).
