In September 2017 experts of the Institute of Food Safety, Animal Health and Environment "BIOR" hosted two representatives of the Ukrainian State Laboratory Diagnostic and Veterinary Expertise Institute - the Head of the Department of Molecular Diagnostics Marina Sapachova and the Head of the Chemical Toxicology Department Tatjana Evtushenko. Within the framework of the five-day training program, the specialists of the Institute “BIOR” provided an information on the system of the official control of food safety and animal health in the European Union and Latvia, ensured the practical and theoretical training of Ukrainian experts concerning the requirements of the International standard ISO 17025, as well as the latest and most current methodologies of food safety and animal diseases testing in accordance with European Union and / or international standards.
The representatives of the Ukrainian Institute have expressed a full committment to the modernisation of the system of food safety and animal health laboratory testing in their country, taking into account the recommendations of the Institute's “BIOR” experts and Latvia's experience, and expressed their desire to become the collaboration partner of the Institute “BIOR”.
The project “Strengthening the Ukrainian Agricultural Advisory System: Towards a More Integrated Agricultural and Rural Development Sector in the Common Market in the EU" is implemented by the Latvian Rural Advisory and Training Centre with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia and the US Embassy in Kyiv.
